Meet Our Medical Staff:
John
G. Oas, MD, our President and Medical Director. His interests and expertise
include fall prevention, clinical practice of Otoneurology, advanced vestibular
testing technology, biophysics
research on the vestibular labyrinth, clinical research on vestibular disorders,
and novel multimedia approaches to continuing medical education. Board-certified
in Neurology, Dr. Oas is a frequent lecturer at national and international
meetings, has published many reviews and original research publications within
his specialty, and is an active member of the American
Academy of Neurology, the American
Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, the International Otopathology
Society, and the Association for Research
in Otolaryngology. Dr. Oas received his undergraduate degree in Aerospace
Engineering from the University of Michigan and worked as a project engineer
at NASA Johnson
Space Center in Houston before receiving his medical degree from the University
of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. His postgraduate medical training
included a medical internship at Carnitas
St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, Neurology residency at the
University of Texas Medical Branch Hospitals
in Galveston, and a 2 year Neurotology Fellowship in with Robert
W. Baloh, MD at the UCLA
Medical Center in Los Angeles. He served as a Consultant in Otoneurology
at the Massachusetts Eye &
Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical
School from 1992 to 1997 and was the founding director of the Program of
Vestibular and Balance Disorders at The
Cleveland Clinic Foundation from 1998 to 2004.
